Acceptance
By accessing the website or installing, building, or using COMPANION, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the project.
What COMPANION provides
COMPANION is an independent browser extension that may display recognized provider-native numeric usage fields, maintain limited local numeric history, provide local alerts, compress prompts locally, request shorter replies, and convert supported files to Markdown locally.
Provider websites, internal interfaces, account plans, counters, and response formats can change without notice. COMPANION may omit a field, stop working on a surface, or require an update when a provider changes its product.
Open-source license
The source code is licensed under the license included in the GitHub repository. That license governs copying, modification, and distribution of the code. Product names, third-party trademarks, documentation, screenshots, and other materials may be subject to separate rights and attribution requirements.
Your responsibility
- Review optimized prompts before sending them. Compression is lossy and cannot guarantee semantic identity.
- Confirm converted file content before relying on it. OCR is not included, and document parsers can omit or rearrange complex content.
- Use COMPANION lawfully and consistently with the terms of the provider, browser, workplace, school, or other environment in which you use it.
- Do not use COMPANION to bypass access controls, obtain data you are not authorized to access, or misrepresent provider data.
Third-party services and names
Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, Chrome, Cloudflare, and other third-party products are operated by their respective owners. COMPANION is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or produced by Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, Microsoft, Cloudflare, Hugging Face, or the model author. Third-party terms and privacy policies govern your use of those services.
No warranty
No guarantee is made that usage values will always be available, complete, current, or suitable for billing decisions; that prompt compression will preserve every nuance; that file conversion will preserve every document feature; or that the extension will remain compatible with every provider update.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the project maintainers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, goodwill, business opportunity, or provider access arising from or related to COMPANION. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid directly for COMPANION during the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim. COMPANION is currently offered without a purchase price.
Changes and availability
Features, supported surfaces, documentation, and these terms may change. The project may be suspended, discontinued, or released under a different version at any time. Updated terms apply prospectively from their stated effective date.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, excluding conflict-of-law rules. Nothing in these terms limits non-waivable rights that apply under the law of your jurisdiction.
